How the Revuelto’s hybrid system changes the driving experience

The Aventador produced its 730 to 770 bhp from the V12 alone, which meant power delivery was tied entirely to engine revs. The Revuelto’s three electric motors change this fundamentally. On pull-away from a junction in Mayfair or exiting a corner on a faster road, the front electric motors deliver instant torque before the V12 has reached the part of its rev range where it contributes most. The result is a car that is faster in every measurable condition but also easier to manage at the exit of a slow corner where the old V12-only AWD system could feel abrupt.

The electric motors also allow Lamborghini to offer a pure electric mode, Elettrica, in which the Revuelto runs on battery power alone at low speeds. In central London, this means leaving the car park beneath a Mayfair hotel or moving through a residential area in near-silence before the V12 engages. The transition from electric to combustion is managed by the dual-clutch gearbox and is not perceptible to either the driver or any passenger. Above approximately 80 mph, the V12 is running constantly and the electric motors act as supplemental torque vectoring units rather than primary drive sources. At 9,250 rpm, the V12 produces a sound that the Revuelto’s active exhaust system broadcasts without any electronic augmentation.
