Hire a Bentley Continental GTC in the UK

The Bentley Continental GTC is the open-top convertible version of the Continental GT coupe. The two cars share the same MSB platform, the same 6.0-litre twin turbo W12 engine producing 650HP and 900Nm of torque, and the same all-wheel drive system with rear-biased torque distribution. The difference is the roof. The GTC uses a three-layer acoustic fabric hood that takes 19 seconds to retract at speeds of up to 30mph. The three layers are designed specifically to suppress wind noise when closed, and at motorway speeds with the roof up the cabin is close in refinement to the fixed-roof GT. With the roof down at legal road speeds, the wind management system reduces turbulence in the cabin to a level where conversation at 70mph is possible without raising your voice. The GTC weighs approximately 75kg more than the GT coupe as a result of the roof mechanism and the structural reinforcement required to maintain rigidity without a fixed roof. That additional weight is not perceptible in normal driving. The car still reaches 60mph in 3.8 seconds and 207mph with the roof closed.

GTC vs Continental GT – Which One?

The choice between the Continental GT coupe and the GTC convertible comes down to one question: do you want the roof down option? The coupe is marginally lighter, marginally stiffer and the cabin is fractionally more refined at very high speeds. The GTC gives you the open-air W12 experience that no other car in the Bentley self drive fleet offers. Both are equally capable as grand tourers. The GT is the choice if you value ultimate refinement in all conditions. The GTC is the choice if you want the option of open-top grand touring on a good UK summer day on a route like the A9 through the Scottish Highlands, the A55 along the North Wales coast or the A272 through the Sussex Downs.

The GTC on UK Roads

The GTC performs on UK roads in the same way as the GT coupe with one additional dimension. On motorways with the roof up it is as composed and refined as the coupe. On an open A-road on a clear day with the roof down, the W12 soundtrack becomes part of the experience in a way that the coupe cannot replicate. The triple-chamber air suspension provides a ride quality that absorbs the imperfections of UK road surfaces without transmitting them to the cabin, and the all-wheel drive system gives confident wet-weather traction for the majority of UK conditions. The GTC is at its best when the weather and the road allow you to use both the engine and the open roof together. For a weekend drive through the Peak District, the Cotswolds or the Scottish Borders on a clear day, it is the most characterful Bentley in the Starr fleet.

What is the difference between the Bentley Continental GTC and the Continental GT?

The Continental GTC is the open top convertible version of the Continental GT coupe. Both use the same 650HP W12 engine, all-wheel drive system and MSB platform. The GTC has a three layer acoustic fabric roof that retracts in 19 seconds at speeds up to 30mph and adds approximately 75kg over the coupe. The GT is marginally more refined with the roof up. The GTC offers the open-air grand touring experience the coupe cannot provide.

How fast does the Bentley Continental GTC roof open?

The Continental GTC’s three layer acoustic fabric roof takes 19 seconds to fully retract and can be operated at speeds of up to 30mph. The same operation in reverse to close the roof also takes 19 seconds. The roof can be operated from the driver’s seat or via the key fob.

How fast is the Bentley Continental GTC?

The Bentley Continental GTC reaches 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 207mph with the roof closed. It produces 650HP and 900Nm of torque from its 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 engine. With the roof down the top speed is limited for aerodynamic stability.

Can you deliver the Bentley Continental GTC to my location?
