ABOUT - HISTORY FROM JAGUAR

The iconic Jaguar brand was founded originally as the ‘Swallow Sidecar Company’ way back in 1922. The company was originally set up to manufacture motorcycle sidecars before going on to develop bodies for commercial passenger cars.

Whilst Jaguar was under the ownership of S. S. Cars Ltd, the successful business extended their operations to cars made in association with Standard Motor Co, many of which bore the iconic Jaguar brand name.

In 1945, the name S.S Card was changed to Jaguar which is how we know of it today. In 1984, the luxury car manufacturer Jaguar was floated onto the London stock exchange and became an honorary member of the FTSE100 in the process.

In 1990, Jaguar was acquired by Ford, and has since gone on to become the official vehicle for many A-list celebrities and the Prime Minister of the UK. Jaguar also holds royal warrants from Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles.

The cars of today are hand crafted and designed at the home of Jaguar within the Whitley Plant in Coventry and has since extended to another site which is based at the Gaydon site in Warwickshire.

Most recently, Jaguar has announced that they will be investing 160 million USD into research and development to keep them at the head of the curve of modern luxury car design.
