The Aston Martin Vantage range is steadily filling up with the new Aston Martin Vantage Roadster added to the line-up last week, set to cost upwards of £125,000. Immensely powerful yet undeniably beautiful, the two-seater convertible sports car is set to launch in the second quarter of this year, giving fans of the British marque the opportunity to enjoy an immersive experience on top of advanced engineering and improved performance. Unlike some other convertible versions we’ve seen where the coupe always tends to win in terms of performance and desirability, the new Vantage Roadster promises to encompass all the original model priorities, simply adding the element of convertibility.
Dropping the ‘Volante’ name for the first time ever, the new Roadster fits right in with Aston Martin’s new generation of design. And not only will the Roadster get the benefits of an updated design overall, the new roof mechanism is set to be the fastest convertible roof in the world, transforming from a coupe to a drop-top in just 6.7 seconds. Celebrating 70 years of Aston Martin, customers can also choose from new ‘vane’ and ‘hunter’ grille designs which pay homage to classic Aston Martin designs and have an extensive choice of colour options for the body, roof and interior; some would even say a little too extensive at times.
Like its coupe sister, the Roadster is powered by a phenomenal 4.0 litre twin turbocharged V8 engine, perfectly adapted for maximum performance. Inside the interior design is focussed and functional, whilst high quality materials and traditional British craftmanship create a vision of pure perfection. Alacantra and luxury leathers have been used to create an elegant and timeless space whilst the new Vantage range also has a lower seating position, connecting the driver further with the car and the road; a design element made even better when in the droptop Roadster.
The layout has been designed with sports in mind and improvements include new positions of the gearshift paddles and gear selection buttons, which makes driving as easy as possible. The LCD display and high-quality sound system are now cleverly placed around the driver, helping to deliver optimum control without taking away from the thrill of the drive. Whilst the new Aston Martin Vantage Roadster mirrors the performance and dynamics of the coupe, its body offers something completely unique, providing a one of a kind driving experience.
The newly improved Z-fold roof mechanism is now twice as fast as its predecessors, making it the fastest convertible roof in the world. This car was designed for the driver that wants to feel a revitalising breeze of fresh air during a summer’s drive and allows you to fully take in your surroundings and sights; an experience which you just can’t fully understand in a coupe. A taut luxury fabric ensures that, in the colder months, occupants can still enjoy the drive just as much remaining warm and dry and eliminating unwanted exterior noise.
The frame has been carefully crafted from lightweight, bonded aluminium and, even with the added roof mechanism weighing 60kg, the new 2021 Vantage Roadster can reach a top speed of 190mph and can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.6 seconds. Improved weight distribution helps further with performance and the roof can be converted up and down whilst still driving at up to 31mph making it extremely efficient in everyday use. And that’s the thing about Aston Martin, not only is the new Roadster the perfect sports car to hire for a special occasion or red-carpet event, it’s also a pleasure to drive all year round and has been designed to fit in with everyday life, even including a 200 litre boot space; the perfect size for a fully-sized golf bag and accessories.
Engineering advancements allow the new Roadster to quickly respond, with sensors detecting a change in terrain or environment as well as driver input, allowing for a more confident drive. This in turn allows you to maintain a higher speed, tackle sharp corners with ease or manoeuvre effectively, for one of Aston Martin’s most dynamic driving experience yet. The driver can choose from three driving modes, Sport, Sport+ and Track, tailoring the car’s output to the specific environment and bringing with it the unmissable roar of an Aston Martin engine, an instantly recognisable sound to discerning ears. This heightens the sensory experience felt within the cabin, by both driver and passenger, reason alone to hire the Aston Martin Vantage Roadster.
